Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Reef Sleep, Australia

Reef Sleep, Australia

Doing a reef sleep was something I'd not heard about before I came to Australia, and when it was mentioned to me I instantly said no because I assumed it ment sleeping in the water or on a tiny boat. Cruise Whitsundays own a pontoon out of Harvey Reef called Reef World, they run trips out to the pontoon of up to 300 people, providing a series of activities including; helicopter tours, snorkling, scuba diving and semi submersible tours.

You arrive at the pontoon at around 11am, do all the activities you want to, and leave at 3pm, UNLESS you are signed up for the reef sleep, which then leaves up to 9 people behind, to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Great Barrier Reef.

I was lucky enough to be able to experience it and would highly recommend it to anyone! I sat and watched the sunset, the moon rise, the sky be filled with more stars then I've ever seen (zero light pollution on the reef) and the sunrise. I was also able to receive one on one coaching from the crew  when it came to snorkling, I had previously had a bad experience which made me worried about getting into the water, the crew were very patient and encouraging and were able to help me build my confidence back up! I'm so grateful for this experience and will definatly be doing it again when I come back to Australia!
